NOTICE OF INTENT OF THE WEST LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL TO APPOINT COUNCIL MEMBER PURSUANT TO IOWA CODE SECTION 3 72.13(2)(b)
TO ALL CITIZENS AND PARTIES IN INTEREST WHO ARE ENTITLED
TO NOTICE OF THE WEST LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL’S INTENT TO APPOINT A PERSON TO FILL A VACANT COUNCIL OFFICE AT ITS
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 5, 2022, AT 10:00AM LOCATED AT CITY HALL 409 N CALHOUN STREET, WEST LIBERTY, IA
You are hereby notified that the City Council of West Liberty, Iowa, intends to fill by appointment the vacancy created by the resignation of Diane Beranek as Council Member.
In the event the electors of West Liberty do not file a petition with the city clerk requesting a special election to fill the vacancy, the City Council intends to appoint an individual as council member. Upon the appointment of the new council member, the appointed member shall serve for the period until the next pending election.
You are further notified that the electors of the City of West Liberty have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by special election, by the filing of a petition in accordance with Iowa Code §372.13(2)(a) within fourteen (14) days after the publication of this notice or within fourteen (14) days after the appointment is made by the City Council.
