NOTICE OF INTENT OF THE WEST LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL TO APPOINT COUNCIL MEMBER PURSUANT TO IOWA CODE SECTION 372.13(2)(b)
TO ALL CITIZENS AND PARTIES IN INTEREST WHO ARE ENTITLED
TO NOTICE OF THE WEST LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL’S INTENT TO APPOINT A PERSON TO FILL A VACANT COUNCIL OFFICE AT ITS
REGULAR MEETING TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2022
You are hereby notified that the City Council of West Liberty, Iowa, intends to fill by appointment the vacancy created by the resignation of Jose Zacarias as Council Member.
In the event the electors of West Liberty do not file a petition with the city clerk requesting a special election to fill the vacancy, the City Council intends to appoint an individual as council member. Upon the appointment of the new council member, the appointed member shall serve for the period until the next pending election.
You are further notified that the electors of the City of West Liberty have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by special election, by the filing of a petition in accordance with Iowa Code §372.13(2)(a) within fourteen (14) days after the publication of this notice or within fourteen (14) days after the appointment is made by the City Council.
City Council Vacancy
The City of West Liberty has a vacancy on the City Council. West Liberty citizens interested in filling this vacancy should submit a letter of interest highlighting qualifications, skills, and abilities to the City Clerk at West Liberty City Hall, 409 N Calhoun St by 12:00 (noon) or email: lgeertz@cityofwestlibertyia.org on Thursday, September 8, 2022. Appointment will be until the November 5, 2023, Regular City Election or requested Special Election, whichever occurs first. Council meetings are 7:30 PM on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Pay is $75 per meeting.
