New Police Recruits

I’m originally from California but have lived all over the place, the West Coast, East Coast and now the Midwest. I joined the US Navy at 18 and served actively for five years. On my off time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being outdoors, reading, working out, baking, playing video games or playing with my animals.

I’ve always been interested in public service, which is why I joined the military. I worked as a Public Safety Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher) before deciding that I felt like I could do more. I wanted to do the “hands on” part of the job. I also have family members who are law enforcement officers and their jobs always interested me. It can be a very rewarding career.

I decided on West Liberty because of the relationships within the community. It’s a small town with two larger cities around, so there is plenty to keep you occupied.

I grew up in Chickasaw County and was recently hired with the West Liberty Police Department as a police officer. I have six years of law enforcement experience, most recently with the Iowa City Police Department. Prior to becoming a police officer, I received my Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from NIACC and my Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Mount Mercy University.

I attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy where I became a certified police officer. I chose this rewarding career to protect, serve and assist people in the community. I am excited to continue my law enforcement career with the West Liberty Police Department and build a relationship with the residents of West Liberty.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family, friends, church activities and community events. I also enjoy hitting the walking trails and being outside with my dog. I am excited to start my career with the West Liberty Police Department and getting to know the residents of West Liberty.
