The City of West Liberty is working to become a Purple Heart City, honoring veterans throughout the community who were wounded or lost their lives in service to our country. As part of this effort, we are seeking help identifying Purple Heart recipients with ties to West Liberty, Atalissa, or Nichols so they can be recognized as part of this important community initiative.
If you know a Purple Heart recipient from our area, please message us directly or email our Public Relations at bwoodson@cityofwestlibertyia.org no later than September 30th.
Please provide:
• Veteran’s name
• Branch of service
• Contact information (if available)
• Family contact information (if applicable)
Furthermore, the City Council plans to adopt a Purple Heart City Proclamation on November 3, 2026, ahead of Veterans Day. The City is also planning the installation of Purple Heart Community signage as a lasting tribute to the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of Purple Heart recipients throughout our area.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this post and tagging local veterans, military families, American Legion and VFW members, and community organizations. Together, we can ensure these heroes receive the recognition they deserve.
