The City of West Liberty is pleased to announce the relocation of its administrative offices to a new facility located at 111 W 7th Street, now officially designated as the City Administration Building.
This move comes in response to longstanding space and operational challenges at the current City Hall at 409 N Calhoun Street, which was redesigned in 2020 to prioritize expanded facilities for the West Liberty Police Department. As a result, administrative functions have faced limitations in space, storage, and public service capacity.
Over the past year, several departments – including the City Manager’s Office, the Mayor’s Office, Building Inspections and Planning, IT Services, and Public Relations – have already transitioned to the new location. This partial relocation has significantly improved interdepartmental collaboration and operational efficiency.
Following the City Council’s approval on July 15th, the remaining administrative offices will begin transitioning to the new facility as part of a 90-day relocation plan, running from July 16 to October 14, 2025. The West Liberty Police Department will remain located at 409 N Calhoun Street.
We are excited about this transition as it will:
- Reunify all administrative staff under one roof
- Enhance service delivery to residents and businesses
- Provide adequate space for daily operations and future growth for both the Administrative and Police departments in their respective spaces
- Allow for future public access to community spaces
- Enable strategic planning for long-term facility use in partnership with ISG Architects
The relocation is fully supported by existing budgeted funds and will be managed internally to minimize costs and service disruptions. Necessary IT upgrades and workspace preparations are already underway.
To keep the public informed, the City will provide regular updates via its website and social media channels. Signage will be posted at both locations, and a public open house will be held following the completion of the move.
We appreciate your patience and support as we take this important step toward improving the efficiency and accessibility of City services!
