What the Council Approved
- Youth Services Space: Classroom 125 at City Hall will be used as a dedicated youth services space in partnership with the West Liberty Ministerial Association.
- Water System Improvements: Council approved replacement of a reverse osmosis membrane and new pump equipment to support reliable drinking water service.
- Economic Development Support:
- Moved forward with developing an incentive package for Sunshine Bakery LLC, a new local business.
- Approved funding steps to support downtown redevelopment, including grant applications for WLFE, LLC.
- Infrastructure Actions:
- Scheduled a public hearing for plans and specs for the 6th Street Reconstruction Project.
- Authorized actions related to utility agreements and future infrastructure needs.
Project & Service Updates
- 6th Street Reconstruction: Project plans are nearly complete. A neighborhood meeting and public hearing are planned so residents can learn more and ask questions.
- Fire & EMS: The transition of ambulance services is progressing well, with facility and equipment updates underway.
- Library Funding: City leaders met with Muscatine County officials to advocate for fair library funding. A funding decision is expected later this spring.
