Ash Trees

Due to the infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer, the City of West Liberty advises community members to remove Ash Trees on their private property before the tree dies. Dead trees will fall over, which could potentially hurt someone or cause property damage. The city has been working to remove all Ash Trees on public property and city Right-of-Ways.

The Emerald Ash Borer, or EAB as it’s commonly known, is a small, metallic-green, invasive wood-boring beetle native to east Asia that attacks and kills Ash Trees. The tunneling and feeding activity of the larvae is what ultimately kills trees. The EAB attacks trees of any size, age, or stage of health, and trees can die within two years of infestation.
