Lawrence McNaul received his Bachelor’s degree in Administration and Management from Excelsior College and attended Northwestern University’s School of Staff and Command focusing on public finance, human resources and personnel management.
He has worked with the City of Grinnell Police Department (IA) and during his tenure in Grinnell he was appointed to Narcotics Investigations in 1997, General Crime in 1998, Patrol Sergeant in 1999. In 2001 accepted an appointment Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office as Chief Deputy. During his time with Sheriff’s Office he served on the Iowa Legislative Committee, Sheriff’s & Deputies Association, Board of Directors for the Mid Iowa Narcotics Enforcement and steered several large projects for the communities he served. Lawrence was appointed as Chief of Police for West Liberty on July 1, 2013. He was hired as the City Manager of West Liberty in 2014.
Lawrence served as a Captain in the Iowa Army National Guard, where he served 22 years and 3 tours
in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. McNaul completed 3 years as Commander of HHD 734th Regional Support Group.
