The City of West Liberty’s Council/Manager form of government is a system founded on the balance between the policy-setting functions of the five-member City Council, the Mayor, and the management expertise of an appointed City Manager.
City Council members are each elected by City residents to serve for four-year terms and the Mayor every two-years.
To assist the city council in their duties there are numerous commissions, committees, and task forces which operate to address needs and trends identified by city staff and the community.
The City Council meetings are held every First and Third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. The City Council Agenda’s are posted 24 hours prior to the Council Meetings at City Hall and Council Chamber entrances and will state the location of each meeting. Requests for an item to be placed on the agenda must be made a minimum of one week prior to the City Council meeting.
